Because while other nations are paying doctors, nurses, and surgeons. The American people are stuck paying CEOs, executives, and stockholders. Insurance companies take our money and deny our care to increase profit margins while our friends and neighbors suffer with the consequences. 500,000 American families go bankrupt every year because they lack adequate healthcare. Not only do we have 30+ examples of efficient and effective national healthcare programs but we also have our own Medicare program that operates at a 12-15% overhead while most insurance companies operate at a 25-30% overhead. These costs will continue to rise as the capitalist class demand higher profit margins at the expense of the financial and physical health of the American people.
